Pb Training Camp - Day One

I just returned from the LT100 Training Camp this weekend.  Two back to back weekends of running in the mountains has me on a serious high.  I was a little nervous about running a bunch of miles only one week out from SJS, but all is well and I had an incredible time.

First off, the Leadville folks put on a fine camp.  Three fully supported runs (I skipped the final night run) on a marked course, bus transportation, an evening panel with Ken Chlouber & LT100 vets, and delicious meals.  I really enjoyed meeting many new friends, hearing their stories, and now feel like running this race is going to be a family affair even more than I already thought possible.

My recipe each day was to start slow and listen very closely to my body.  At any sign of warning, I'd just go into sight-seeing pace.  Well, I kept feeling stronger as the run progressed to the point where I was moving at a strong pace for the second half of each run.

Day one was running from Mayqueen to Twin Lakes.  There was some snow on the top and back side of Sugarloaf, but it was easy to get over or go around.  There was a decent amount of water at the base of Powerlines, but they put up a small footbridge at the only spot where you were guaranteed to wade through ankle to knee deep water.

I took pics all along the way, so if your curious what the course conditions are for this stretch, here ya go!
